The AMSA Business Coordinator for the American Meat Science Association (AMSA) will work closely with the Chief Operating Officer, Director of Youth Programs, and other staff members, to oversee the development and implementation of AMSA projects and programs contributing to the successful execution of AMSA’s Strategic Plan.
Primary Responsibilities
1. Project and Organizational Management
Coordinate reporting on status of objectives, goals, and tasks for the AMSA Strategic Plan.
Manage AMSA Memorandum of Understandings with other organizations.
Manage receivables/payables and recordkeeping.
Assist all AMSA staff in coordinating and administering programs and projects.
Schedule appointments, meetings, tradeshows, and reservations as needed.
Schedule and track all AMSA committee meetings including notes/minutes, as needed.
Attend AMSA Board meetings and take minutes.
Oversee content and updates for AMSA Website, Online Store and the Membership Database as directed.
Organize and maintain AMSA’s file system using Teams/Sharepoint and Box.
Manage sales orders, shipping oversite, and track inventory for beef marbling cards, pork marbling cards, beef grids and probes.
2. Meat Judging and Youth Programs Support:
Project management and administrative support for all youth activities and education programs.
Manage hotel blocks for youth activities.
Review contracts and create agendas and menus for youth activities.
Travel onsite to help facilitate meat judging contests, as directed by the AMSA Director of Youth Programs.
Assist the AMSA Director of Youth Programs as needed with the AMSA Student Board of Directors, Student Awards and Scholarships.
Supports the overall goals of the organization by performing duties as assigned.
Qualifications:
Education: A minimum of a Bachelor of Science degree in an agriculture major is required.
It is highly preferred that the candidate must have formal training in meat science and experience or a solid understanding of meat judging.

Required Experience:
Proficient skill level and current with Microsoft Office (Word, PowerPoint, Excel, Teams, and ideally experience with Adobe and design programs) as well as ability to learn QuickBooks.

Ability to manage multiple responsibilities with competing priorities, work well under pressure and proactively plan to meet deadlines.

Flexible location. Must have access to a major airport with preference to applicants in the greater Dallas/Fort Worth or Kansas City area. Must have access to reliable, high-speed internet. Up to 25% of work time travel may be required.
