Overview:

Vice President of Food Safety and Quality oversees and drives the organizational food safety, and quality strategy, vision, and initiatives. Coordinates cross functionally with Operations and other key support groups to plan and implement projects, timelines budgets etc. Continuously seeks to improve quality, value and consistency of Clemens products through a balance of innovation and process control measures.

Responsibilities:

Talent Management

• Growing the leadership abilities and technical knowledge of the team
• Unify the CFG (Clemens Food Group) team to common objectives
• Remove obstacles within the organization to ensure success
• Set expectations and hold team accountable
• Coach direct reports on a routine basis
• Conduct performance reviews
• Evaluate and identify resources needed for success of programs
• Recruit, interview and hire talented team members
• Ensure team commitment to onboarding and development processes, strategy, planning & vision
• Think and act like an owner

Strategy, Planning & Vision

• Develop and implement a vision for Food Safety & Quality at CFG
• Set the overall strategy for FSQA team and lead continuous improvement efforts for FSQA and team CFG
• Lead budgeting process for FSQA department
• Identify opportunities for organizational growth in food safety & quality assess, evaluate, and prioritize best practices for CFG

Team CFG

• Align resources to reinforce food safety and quality culture at CFG
• Advocate for food safety and quality to CFG (2-way communication)
• Present large scale food safety & quality issue resolution to the rest of the leadership team
• Participate in leadership meetings, USDA meetings, and customer meetings. Lead food safety and quality initiatives
• Participate in cross-functional CFG initiatives and performance excellence

Performance Management

• Ensure KPIs and management control and reporting systems are in place and being used to drive performance of the team
• Review current projects of team
• Provide feedback on work product and results
• Assure programs are validated
• Assure compliance to new regulations and customer requirements

External Voice of CFG

• Represent CFG and lobby the industry as it relates to food safety and quality
• Ensure team is engaged in external committees and industry groups
• Communicate industry and CFG information to customers
• Participate in external plant and customer visits
• Explore new equipment/processes for advancement of food safety and quality build and maintain a network of contacts

Position Qualifications:

• At least 10 years Food safety quality assurance managerial leadership experience within the meat industry preferred; food manufacturing industry required.
• Bachelor's degree from a four-year college or university
• Master degree preferred
• Meat industry experience preferred; food manufacturing industry experience required
• Ability and willingness to recognize and respond to new concepts
• Excellent written/verbal communication/presentation skills
• Leadership experience required; ability to develop teams
• Ability to excel in a fast-paced environment where change and growth are part of the culture
• Strong MS Excel, Word, and PowerPoint skills required
• Ability to travel up to 20% of time
• Strong problem solving skills and attention to detail
• USDA voluntary regulatory program experience preferred
• Ability to influence and drive culture; multi-task oriented and a team player
