• Teach 27-30 credit hours (Fall and Spring) for the Meat Science program. • Establish and manage a high-impact meats program that is focused on value-added muscle food innovation and value added product development. • Coordinate a combination of teaching and workforce training that may include courses in live animal and meat evaluation and muscle-food product development as well as develop outreach activities in consumer/community education • Advise students in the major. • Serve on university and other committees as assigned. • Supervise academic progress of all Meats Judging members. • Recruit students to the College of Agriculture, Science, and Nursing programs and Meat Judging Team by visiting schools/campuses, attending camps and national livestock shows, and utilizing internet-recruiting initiatives. • Must have a strong work ethic and lead by example. • Must be a professional, credible and respected representative of the institution internally and in the community • Demonstrated willingness and ability to act ethically and socially responsible • Must be able to lift more than 20-lb. objects; frequent bending, stooping, and walking • Can be exposed to a variety of weather conditions for periods of time. • Ability to communicate in a courteous manner • Other duties as assigned by Dean of the College of Agriculture, Science, and Nursing or designee.
ADDITIONAL DUTIES, DEPENDING ON QUALIFICATIONS AND EXPERIENCE: Serve as the Meats Judging Coach
Qualifications for the Meats Judging Coach in addition to those above: • Experience in competitive Meats Judging on the collegiate level (required). • Knowledge of collegiate Meats Judging rules and other events. • Experience in Meats competitions and protocols. • Valid driver’s license.
Responsibilities for Meats Judging Coach: • Coach collegiate meats judging team(s). • Coordinate meats judging workouts and practices. • Prepare entry forms and travel requests for contests. • Supervise academic progress of all Meats Judging Team members. • Officiate Meats judging contests, judging fairs, and livestock shows. • Recruit students to the College Agriculture, Science and Nursing programs and Livestock Judging Team by visiting schools/campuses, attending camps and national livestock shows, and utilizing internet recruiting initiatives. • Must be a professional, credible, and respected representative of the institution internally and in the community.

EDUCATION, TRAINING AND EXPERIENCE: • Required: Master’s degree required in Meat Science or related field. • Must have 18 graduate hours in Meat Science or closely related field. • Preferred: PH.D preferred
