ACM has an immediate need for a R&D/Product Development Manager to join our team and help us meet the needs of a rapidly expanding pipeline of sales and development opportunities. As an integral member of the management team you will support all aspects of the sales, development, quality and production roll-out process. This role will support our current optimization and reformulation efforts, as well as be instrumental in the launch of new items for existing and new customers alike. ACM possesses both raw and cooked operations with our primary development efforts focused on the cooked/RTE markets.

Lead and support the R&D team and serve as the chief protein and product expert for the company.
Lead the commercialization process from benchtop to large volume production for new and reformulated products.
Work across multiple functional departments to optimize existing and new recipes and processes to enhance product quality, production efficiencies, throughput, and cost-effectiveness.
Develop and maintain an innovative product development pipeline aligned with strategic objectives and responsive to customer requests including but not limited to clean label and low-sodium reformulations, formulation and processing cost reduction, and sourcing of high-quality preservative-free ingredients.
Support the Sales team with product development requests, customer presentations, and product information requests.
Work collaboratively with the Quality and Food Safety team to provide technical support on products and ingredients and participate in sensory evaluation and product shelf-life studies.
Partner with Purchasing to support ingredient sourcing and participate in the validation and qualification of new raw materials.
Manage new product set up, as well as documentation of recipes and processes in system (Flavor Studio).
Research product and ingredient trends, standards, attributes, and safety.
Develop packaging solutions for new and existing product lines.
Participate in team training for new products as well as recipe and process changes and implementation of new equipment.
Manage R&D technical documentation and label information to conform with USDA regulatory requirements including clean-label.

What We Are Looking For
Experience leading and managing a team
Collaborative mindset and experience interacting with company leadership
Comfortable and effective in a sales environment with customers and prospects, from entertaining to technical tastings
Bachelor’s and/or Masters in Animal or Meat Science
8-10 years protein experience drawing on animal and meat science, both academically and professionally
5 years of experience with meat-related food manufacturing and process
Knowledge of GMP’s and HACCP; HACCP Certification a plus
Excellent project management skills, ability to multitask, keep accurate and up-to-date documentation and records, and provide quick responses and solutions to unforeseen challenges
