The Department of Animal and Food Sciences has over 950 undergraduate students, 65 M.S. and Ph.D. students, and 28 faculty members. Position Description: The Department of Animal and Food Sciences at Oklahoma State University is seeking applicants for an 11-month, tenure-track position (60% Teaching and 40% Research) which carries the expectation of excellence in scholarship across all areas of the appointment, commensurate with the land grant mission of Oklahoma State University. The successful candidate will teach undergraduate and graduate courses in meat/food science relative to his/her expertise and needs of the department. The individual will be expected to advise both undergraduate and graduate students. The successful candidate will develop an internationally recognized research program in meat quality and contribute to the existing strengths of the department. Opportunities for independent and collaborative research include, but are not limited to meat quality (flavor, tenderness, and color), muscle biochemistry, along with industry focused applied research. The successful candidate will seek and secure extramural funding in support of a multidisciplinary research program in collaboration with other faculty in the Department, the Food and Agricultural Products Center (FAPC), the Division, and the University. Departmental resources available to this position include laboratory space in Animal Science and collaborative space in FAPC and other university shared spaces.
Qualifications: Requirements include: a Ph.D. in Meat, Food or Animal Science; or a closely related field. Applicants must be committed to Research and Teaching excellence with strong industry relationships. The successful applicant must be a dedicated teacher with a passion for student success. They must also have documented experience as a researcher committed to conducting industry applicable research. Preference will be given to individuals with strong oral and written communication skills, effective interpersonal skills with diverse audiences and successful teamwork.
