Kunoa seeks an ambitious, quality-oriented QA/QC Team Leader to perform quality control, food safety, and safety management at Kunoa’s USDA-inspected meat packing plant. The QA/QC Team Leader will be responsible for:
Food safety, personal hygiene, and a clean workspace
Checking pre-op/post op on a regular basis to make sure the teams are meeting sanitation standards
Assisting with quality control, checking animals and carcasses to ensure they are of highest quality and meet Kunoa specs
Applying for any necessary permits for the establishment that affect production
Preparing and maintaining documentation for all audits and certifications including SQF/BRC
Oversee all necessary daily, weekly, and monthly testing
Implementing food safety, QA/QC policies and procedures and ensuring they are communicated to the teams
Overseeing HACCP, SSOP, and GMP record keeping by each team
Assuring compliance with all USDA regulations, and maintaining all necessary records
Interacting with USDA FSIS inspectors on related matters
Obtaining any new label approvals
Reviewing and evaluating product quality, including customer complaints and initiate corrective actions with suppliers
Remaining current with federal regulations as they relate to the Company's products, GMP's, and ensuring supplier's regulatory requirements are met
Managing supplier Certificate of Analysis program to assure compliance with product specifications
Conducting site audits to ensure programs are in place and effectively
Coordinating product recalls and withdrawals with suppliers and serve as department expert for crisis management as it relates to product safety
Ensuring supplier food safety, quality and process control issues are successfully resolved, including effective use of root cause analyses and corrective and preventative action tools
Knowledge of laws, regulations relating to: General QA Management, USDA, FDA, Food Safety Audits, Labeling, Micro testing, GMP and SSOP programs
Completing tasks in a timely manner
Good communication and interpersonal skills. Focus on teamwork
Providing feedback to QA/QC team members regularly
Ability to delegate
Upholding and enforcing Kunoa quality standards, and retraining team members as needed
Understanding and upholding the highest standards of animal welfare, food safety, and product quality
The candidate is committed to perfection and food safety in every respect, is entrepreneurial in his/her work ethic, and has high emotional intelligence to effectively work in a team in environment.
Bachelor's degree in food science, agriculture, or related field. HACCP certification is a must.
Minimum of three years' experience in a QA/ Food Safety generalist role with supervisory experience in a food manufacturing/production environment.
Seasoned knowledge of laws and regulations relating to: General QA Management, USDA, FDA, Food Safety Audits, Labeling, Micro testing, GMP and SSOP programs.
