Salumi is looking for an ambitious and enthusiastic Assistant Production Manager. Salumi is a twenty-year old nationally-recognized producer of premium artisan salami and cured meats. Our new Assistant Production Manager will be responsible for assisting the Production Manager’s oversight of production and packaging operations. He/she will ensure quality and food safety standards are adhered to and improved over time and will assist in the leadership and training of production staff. He/she will support new production initiatives, including the transition to Salumi’s new production facility, implementation of production equipment and technology, and launch of new products and food safety standards.
The right candidate must be independent, a problem-solver, and have a strong attention to detail. They must have experience in food production environments and managing teams. They will enjoy a fast–paced environment where procedures and products are continuously expanding and improving. This will be a new position within Salumi and will play a key leadership role in expanding our premium food company into a 13,000+ square foot state-of-the-art manufacturing facility.
Oversee production and packaging processes, ensuring operations function consistently, safely, and according to Salumi HACCP plans. Identify and resolve problems efficiently and effectively. Willingness to assist the production line on a regular basis.
Ensure quality standards are met throughout production process. Support implementation of Global Food Safety Initiatives and play a leading role interfacing with the USDA.
Maintain production facility and equipment to limit downtime and maintain facility hygiene standards. Assist with implementation of new state-of-the-art technologies.
Assist with recruiting, hiring, development and leadership of a skilled and efficient production staff.
Lead training of production staff and ongoing development of Salumi’s training curriculum.
Support new production initiatives including Salumi’s transition to a new production facility in 2019, implementation of new production equipment and technology, and launch of new products and food safety standards.
Required Education and Experience:
3-5 years in a food production environment. USDA meat production experience a plus
HACCP experience required. GFSI, SQF, BRC, GRMS, IFS experience a plus
Prior experience managing a team
Comfortable using computers, inventory planning and other relevant technology
Strong communicator in English. Spanish a plus.
