Position Description: The Project Manager will perform functions to facilitate the development of new products and formulas as requested by corporate sales, customers, and upper management. The position is located in South Holland, IL. A relocation will be considered for this position.
Primary Responsibilities: • Develops new products and concepts for new and existing customers to meet financial, culinary, and nutritional requirements • Recommends products and processes by evaluating current, new or improved processes or process aids, systems and technologies • Researches and incorporates new flavors, ingredients and processes into new product ideas • Creates and edits formulas, processing procedures, finished product specifications, and customer specifications • Creates and edits ingredient specifications and technical requirements of functional ingredients • Collaborates with operations to optimize processes and production for existing items within the limits of product specifications • Responsible for commercialization of new and reformulated products and successful transition from development to operations • Interfaces and collaborates with customers, suppliers, and internal management teams including sales, operations, quality, regulatory, procurement, finance, and customer service • Orders ingredients from suppliers as needed for sample product runs • Contributes to the ERP new ingredient implementation process • Provides products for customer and sales presentations • Actively participates in food safety programs that ensure the safety of ingredients and finished products • Communicates with customers on a regular basis • Works within USDA regulations in the development of product labels • Performs other duties as assigned
• Bachelor’s degree in Meat Science, Food Science or related field • 1 – 3 years product development experience in meat products • Knowledge of meat cuts, principles of meat science, seasoning applications, and sauce manufacturing • Basic knowledge of USDA label requirements • Strong communication and technical writing skills • Strong working knowledge of computers, specifically Microsoft Office products • Travel approximately 10-15% of time by airplane and/or car • Ability to stand for long periods (10-15%) of time in plant conditions/cold temperatures (40-50 F) • Ability to lift 40 lbs
